SB Multi-pole Battery Connectors

SB Multi-Pole Battery Connectors incorporate Anderson Power Products unique flat-wiping system. It allows for minimal contact resistance at high current and the wiping action means that the contacts clean each other with each disconnect – connect cycle. These contacts and most Anderson high current contacts are capable of up to 10,000 mating cycles, more than enough for any likely battery connector usage.

There are either two or three high-power poles in SB connectors and up to an additional four lower-power poles available for ancillary equipment in the SBE / SBX battery connector versions. This provides the possibility of a secondary circuit or connection of an air hose. Both versions are finger safe to UL1950 / EN1175.

A recent development has been the SB Plus battery connector range which rates the connector to a much higher amperage. The SB120, already a high power connector at 120 amps in its standard form, is now rated to 190 amps with the SB120 Plus contacts.

All Anderson SB multi-pole high-power battery connectors are hot pluggable as the flat wiping system contains the arc within the two housings and have a UL94 V-0 flammability rating and chemical resistant version are available.

All SB connectors are genderless and two identical connectors are mated by turning one of them through 180 degrees and pushing them together. There is no male or female contact. The high power contacts must be connected to the cable and inserted in order to connect the two connectors. This is because flat wipe SB connector type contacts are held in place by a spring that is depressed by the insertion of a contact.

SB Battery connectors are available in a range of standard colours which are mechanically keyed to avoid equipment of different voltages being inadvertently connected. All colours are electrically identical but only two connectors of the same colour will interconnect. Powerpoles are different in that they are all keyed so that different colours will join together to form unlimited possibilities. Colours of SB connectors designate recommended application voltages taking into account industry standard usage. This minimises the possibility of mismatching power supplies and electrical outlets.
